Two of the UK Acoustic/Folk scene’s finest songwriters join forces for a series of concerts filled with songs and music, chat and banter and intimate insights into their approach to their craft.
Head to head, neck and neck (guitar necks, that is!) listen in as they rekindle the spontaneity of their late-night living-room song swaps. Questions, answers, anecdotes and anarchy… and a very special evening of music.
This is something they’ve wanted to do since sharing the stage in the USA a while back so we’re excited to say it’s coming together for next year, jointly booked by Different Strings Music Agency and Oscar Music Agency.]]>
STOP PRESS! This course has now changed and will run as a day course on Saturday May 24th and not a weekend course ( see below)
Wondering how to spend your spring bank holiday weekend? Well we have a great idea for budding guitarists and songwriters out there!
By popular request, Steve will be running a guitar and songwriting workshop Saturday May 24th 2014, in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire.
The workshop is aimed at developing and experienced guitar players and aspiring songwriters. It will start at 10 am and run throughout the day and into the evening. The sessions will be relaxed and informal, but provide opportunities to work on specific aspects of both guitar and songwriting. Steve will share his approach, drawing on his extensive back catalogue and wide ranging musical influences. There will be an option to share an evening meal and the day will wind down with a relaxed open mic session in the evening, to give everyone an opportunity ( not compulsory!) to share their talents.
Consistent winner of tourism awards as a great place to visit, Hebden Bridge came top of the list again last year as ‘the coolest place to live in the UK’ (The Times March 2013) – for its vibrant arts and creative scene, independent shops and stunning landscape. The course will be held in the newly renovated Hebden Bridge Town Hall, a Grade 2 Victorian listed building on the River Calder, in the centre of town. The first community-owned Town Hall in the UK, the building is now a state of the art centre for community and creative enterprise and an ideal location for getting to places to stay and eat in the town. For those wishing to make a weekend of it, there is a considerable variety of accommodation available, from simple hostel, bed and breakfast, or self catering accommodation, to luxury hotel. There is even a campsite for the more adventurous!
Prices are £125 for the day. To reserve a place, please send a deposit of £50 ( non returnable) by April 30th to Steve Tilston, PO Box 100, Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, HX7 9AB. If you have any questions at all, email Steve via his website www.stevetilston.com
We look forward to seeing you in Hebden Bridge.
Watch this space for details of a parallel workshop to be held in Bristol later in the year.
