A Pretty Penny in Acoustic Magazine’s top 50 song selection…
To celebrate the 50th issue of Acoustic magazine there are special features including the top 50 acoustic songs chosen by the readers – Steve is there at number 32 with A Pretty Penny – alongside Nick Drake, Simon & Garfunkel, Joan Armatrading and others plus one of Steve’s personal inspirations Big Bill Broonzy.
“It’s been said that Steve Tilston is one of the best kept secrets in British music. That might be over egging the pudding but there’s no doubt that he’s one of the best and deserves a wider audience. This is a recent song from his 2008 album Ziggurat and it’s a testament to his skill as a songwriter that he’s still penning such memorable songs.”

It’s a historical novel of epic proportions, finely crafted and with a compelling plot. Read the rest of this entry »

It was a double celebration for one of our finest singer-songwriters.
Steve Tilston was marking his 40th anniversary as a professional singer and songwriter as well as the publication of his first novel, All For Poor Jack.
40th year celebration
Steve Tilston & friends
on Thursday 23 September
To celebrate his 40th year as a professional musician Steve Tilston has chosen to return to Bristol, the city that for many reasons has played a major part in his life. It was in Bristol that Steve recorded his first album An Acoustic Confusion, and it is 15th century Bristol that provides much of the backdrop for his first novel All for Poor Jack.
Steve will be performing songs spanning his career with help from Wizz Jones, Martha Tilston, Keith Warmington, Brooks Williams, Chris Parkinson, Maggie Boyle, David Bowie and other special guests. He will also be signing copies of the book.
