Writes & Songs Tour – November 2015

Two of the UK Acoustic/Folk scene’s finest songwriters join forces for a series of concerts filled with songs and music, chat and banter and intimate insights into their approach to their craft.

Head to head, neck and neck (guitar necks, that is!) listen in as they rekindle the spontaneity of their late-night living-room song swaps. Questions, answers, anecdotes and anarchy… and a very special evening of music.

This is something they’ve wanted to do since sharing the stage in the USA a while back so we’re excited to say it’s coming together for next year, jointly booked by Different Strings Music Agency and Oscar Music Agency.

Steve Tilston on Gentle Folk2…

Hear Steve Tilston on Gentle Folk August edition… in fact Steve’s interview takes up pretty much all of the second half, mixed in with a fair few tracks. You can find it here.  It’s up on the web now and it can be heard anytime – even after the month is over, as it stays in the Archive. It was recorded by host Norman Wheatley when Steve was in concert at Warwick Folk Club back in June. It’s well worth a listen.

One-Day Song-writing & Guitar workshop in Bristol

Steve shares a wealth of experience…

You may remember that Steve ran a one-day guitar and song-writing workshop in his hometown of Hebden Bridge back in May. It was a huge success and due to popular demand, he’s decided to run another, this time in his second home, Bristol.

It will be on Saturday 6 September 2014, in the Music Room at the Bristol Folk House, Park Street, Bristol BS1 5JG, a venue well known for delivering a wide-ranging adult education programme.
Aimed at developing and experienced guitar players and aspiring songwriters, the workshop will start at 10.00 a.m. and run throughout the day finishing around 6.00 p.m. The sessions will be relaxed and informal, but provide opportunities to work on specific aspects of both guitar and songwriting. Steve will share his approach, drawing on his extensive back catalogue and wide ranging musical influences. The day will wind down with a relaxed open-mic-style-session, to give everyone an opportunity (not compulsory!) to showcase their talents.
After the workshop, there will be an option to share an evening meal together somewhere nearby (details TBC).
The price is just £150 for the day – to reserve a place/further enquiries email Steve mail@stevetilston.com or contact him via the form on his website
A deposit of £50 (non returnable) will be required email for details.
Steve’s looking forward to seeing you in Bristol!
